GLAMPING RESORTS IN ROMANIA

How many of you have heard of glamping? It basically encapsulates the idea of going camping, but in a glam sort of way, surrounded by nature while still enjoying the facilities provided by modern-day hotels. Since the idea was quite new to me, I started a small research on glamping resorts in Romania, and was happy to find out about how many options there actually are out there. In this article, I will present nine of the places I managed to find so far, also as a personal list of resorts I would like to visit as soon as I may start travelling again. :)

1. Nomadia Glamping Retreat

Nomadia Glamping Retreat was actually the first resort of this kind that I found out about, while reading articles on a travelling website. It seems to be the only glamping resort by the seaside, at the moment of writing. It has an amazingly beautiful decor and, needless to say, the view towards the sea is just perfect. It has no Internet access and no phone signal. Through my research, I learnt the owners wish to portray this place as a rather exclusive resort, therefore their exact location is not revealed to the wide public, but made available after you've booked the tent. :)

2. Wegloo

Wegloo is a glamping retreat in Valea Prahovei, Azuga, and it provides several igloos within their resort. The top of the tent is transparent, as well as one of the sides, being the perfect enclosure to provide a cool view at night. Imagine how awesome it would be if you were in a Nordic country and could see the Northern Lights :) Anyways, this retreat comes with its own fireplace, it does provide Internet access, and each igloo has its own bathroom.

3. Dragonfly Garden

This one is placed in Brasov, in a garden pretty close to the centre of the town. The decor is, once again, really pretty and, as seen in the pictures below, it provides several tents within the garden. According to some reviews, the garden is so well placed and hidden that the tourists never felt they were actually glamping in the centre of a town. Contrariwise.

4. Green Camp

Green Camp is located in Vadu Oii, Buzau, about 30 km away from Gura Siriului, and there is a multitude of aspects that make this place quite special. Firstly, the furniture is made by the owners of the resort, out of desire to provide tourists with a truly unique experience. Secondly, they organise all sorts of activities, such as kayaks, rafting and hiking, and you can also book the entire resort for private events.

5. Ursa Mica Glamping Resort

This one seems to be the first glamping resort in Romania, being placed between two mountain ranges: Piatra Craiului and Bucegi. The reception of the resort is a house that belonged to one of the local families; later on, the building was reconditioned in traditional style. The camp is guarded by shepherd dogs to provide protection against potential wandering wild animals.

6. Huzur Glamping

Since the previous retreat I presented was Ursa Mica Glamping Resort, there could no better successor than Huzur Glamping, whose functioning idea belongs to the owners of the former business. Huzur Glamping is a pop-up resort, meaning that its location is different every year. According to what I managed to find out, it was held in Buftea last year.

7. Camping Valea Iarului

Valea Iarului is placed at approximately 50 km away from Petrosani, in the Retezat Mountains. While this retreat may not be exactly the most glamorous one, since its decor is quite basic, the view around the resort is still undoubtedly special.

8. Sunrise Glamping Retreat

This glamping retreat is placed in Bradulet, Arges, and while the tents may be a little smaller, with a quite basic kind of decor, the owners wish to offer their visitors a more provincial experience. A very interesting thing is that, leaving aside the idea of a not so glamorous decor, they offer a jacuzzi with water warmed up by fire and wood.

9. Hotelul de Bumbac

Hotelul de Bumbac is not just a glamping resort, but rather a fishing camp in Maramures. I left this as the last one on the list, since I never had the chance yet to try out fishing. I am sure, however, this spot would be quite fun for anyone passionate, since fishing as a sport is permitted in this area.

I found the inspiration to write about the glamping resorts above after several articles I got to read on travelling websites. All of the information above was taken from the retreats' main websites, wilddventure.ro and prinlume.com. I also found out about travlocals.com, a website focused on more exclusive destinations in Romania, where all you need to do is enter the part of the country you would like to visit, pick the kind of accommodation you would like to try out, such as traditional homes, manors, treehouses and so on, choose the offer that suits you best, then perform the deal. :) If you already got to experience a holiday at a glamping resort and would like to share the knowledge, or if you have any other recommendations besides the camps above, I'd enjoy to hear about it!
